Will Metro Detroit Have A White Christmas?

The National Weather Service has released its forecast for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN — There is a chance for snow showers on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Metro Detroit, according to a forecast from the National Weather Service.

The agency released its weekly forecast and projects a 40-percent chance of snow on Christmas Day and a 30 percent chance of snow on the night of Christmas Eve. It's unclear how much snow may accumulate, but flakes are more likely to fall than not.

In the run-up to the holiday, Michiganders in the southeast part of the state can expect some more wet weather.

Things pick up Wednesday night with a chance of rain in the area and snow likely to fall. The temperature during the day will be around 51 degrees, according to the NWS forecast.

Thursday will also present a good chance for rain and snow before turning to strictly snow heading into the Christmas holiday. The temperature will fall to around 35 degrees.
