Winter Strikes Again: Advisory Issued For Southeast Michigan

Some areas may get as much as 4 inches of fresh snow on Wednesday morning.

DETROIT, MI – This winter won't relent. It struck again overnight, leaving a slippery, messy morning commute and threats that the wintry weather will be remain through the day on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service early Wednesday issued a Winter Weather Advisory, warning of snow with accumulations of a half-inch an hour during the morning hours. A total accumulation likely will reach 2 to 3 inches in most areas of southeast Michigan, and up to 4 inches in isolated areas.

The advisory is in effect Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, St. Clair, Livingston, Washtenaw and Lenawee counties, including the cities of Detroit, Ann Arbor, Monroe, Warren and Pontiac. The advisory is in effect until noon Wednesday.

"Plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions," the weather service warned. "Be prepared for reduced visibilities under 1 mile at times. Motorists should expect travel delays during the morning commute."

The Michigan Department of Transportation reported numerous traffic crashes along roads and freeways in the Greater Detroit area. The agency said it's fleet of salt trucks and snow plows are working the roads, and asked that drivers give them room to do their jobs.
