Dexter's Jolly Pumpkin Cited As Part Of Great Beer City

Today, Food & Wine Magazine declared Detroit “America's Next Great Beer City” today, with a special nod to Dexter’s own Jolly Pumpkin, whose Hopcat offshoot occupies prime space in downtown Detroit.

In addition to the Jolly Pumpkin, where President Obama enjoyed a very basic cheeseburger while visiting in 2016 for the Detroit Auto Show, a full-scale brewery will open in the Cass corridor this spring. Intended as a kind of learn-as-you-go partner for the brewers’ program at Eastern Michigan University, the student brewers’ products will be sold by Jolly Pumpkin in a courtyard near the new facility.

Food & Wine added that craft brewing is a booming business statewide. The Michigan Brewers Guild lists over 246 craft brewers and breweries across the state.
