Girls XC Spartan Invitational Performances Do Not Disappoint
True to form, the Michigan State Spartan Invitational made for a day of records among the Dexter Girls Cross Country runners.
Traditionally, this is a fast and enjoyable course on rolling turf, and yesterday’s race had the added benefit of perfect weather for running: a light breeze and mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the 70s. The meet was host to 210 teams and twenty-one total races throughout the day.
Lindsey Hayter (21:36) and Anna Varitek (21:48) both posted season records in the Spartan Elite Varsity Race. Also scoring for Dexter were Dani Waidley (20:14), Jaquelynn Terbush (21:33), and Claire Ketzner (21:48). Rounding out the varsity line-up for the meet were Gigi Eisele and Abby McLean.
The fast paced junior varsity race ended in six season records: Julia Bell (22:30), Megyn Scafasci (22:35), Sarah Read (24:23), Kara O’Day (24:48), Chloe Vorias (25:56), and Lydia Savatsky (27:10). Other strong performances came from Grace Lopez, Heather Brouwer, Amanda Hubert, Rachel Bristow, and Emma Streetman.

The next event to catch the girls in will be the Jackson Invitational at Ella Sharp Park located at 2800 4th Street in Jackson, MI. Junior Varsity will run at 5:30 on Friday, and the varsity race is on Saturday morning followed, as always, by a celebratory stop at The Parlour of Jackson for premium ice cream treats.
