Library Offers Kid Activities Over Break

Kid-Friendly New Year, Maker Space

While the kids are out of school, the library has a few events they’ll want to check out. Tomorrow, Thursday, Dec 29, from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m., there will be a maker space for kids K-8. Children will be able to use a variety of “creativity stations” in the library that will include “Lincoln Logs, Legos, Construx, Hexabits and more.” The drop-in program doesn’t require registration and will take place in the library’s lower level meeting room.

Friday, Dec 30, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, The Dexter District Library will host a kids’ New Year celebration. Parents and little ones can expect a selection of games, winter crafts, snacks and music. While this isn’t quite New Year's Eve, the library will keep the idea alive, arming the kids with hats and noisemakers at 11:50 am, so that Olaf can help with a “countdown to noon and…Happy Noon Year.”

The library bills the event as “a great way for little ones to enjoy the thrill of New Year’s Eve without staying awake until midnight.” No registration is required for the free event. The event takes place at Dexter District Library, 3255 Alpine St, Dexter.
