If you’re starting to plan your Independence Day celebrations – and you should be – here’s a list of some of the fireworks displays in southeast Michigan. Some displays are scheduled in advance of the Fourth of July weekend.

Remember, we’re only human. We strive for 100 percent accuracy, but as these listings were curated from various websites, we can’t guarantee all the details. Double check with the community before heading out.

Canton Liberty Fest Fireworks: 10 p.m., Saturday, June 20, Heritage Park, 1010 S. Canton Center Road; free. The fireworks cap off three days of celebration, June 18-20, including festival food, carnival rides, midway games, a car show and much more family fun.

Utica Riverwalk Festival: 9:45 pm. Saturday, June 20, Riverwalk and clock tower next to City Hall, 7550 Auburn Road; fireworks are free, but other events may have an admission. This celebration runs June 17-20and includes carnival rides, live entertainment, beer tent, petting zoo, canoe and kayak rides, and other family-friendly fun events.

Ortonville CreekFest Fireworks: dusk, Saturday, June 20, Brandon Middle School, 609 S. Ortonville Road, Ortonville; free. The festival takes place June 18-20, and also includes a carnival, contests, parade, educational demonstrations and bed races.

Ford Fireworks: 10:06 p.m., Monday, June 22, Hart Plaza, Detroit; free for general admission or $200 for VIP. The Ford Fireworks along the Detroit River are a 57-year tradition that draws thousands to the RiverWalk.

Livonia Spree: 10:15 p.m. Sunday, June 28, Ford Field at Farmington and Lyndon roads, Livonia, free entry, plus $25 for all-day ride bracelets and $50 for three-day rides. A 30-minute display presented by the Livonia Anniversary Committee is the grand finale for the June 23-28 festival. Rides go until 11 p.m. each night.

Rochester Festival of the Hills Fireworks: 10:06 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, Borden Park, 1400 E. Hamlin Roads, Rochester Hills; free. Activities begin at 6 p.m., including games and live entertainment, as a prelude to Michigan’s second-largest fireworks display.

Bay-Rama Fishfly Festival: 10 p.m., Thursday, June 25 (rain date Friday, June 26), Waterfront Park, 36300 Front Street, New Baltimore; free (some events may have fees). The June 24-28 festival includes a pageant, carnival, parade, contests and games, music, food, and fireworks, and fish flies.

Red Run Golf Course: dusk, Thursday, June 25, Red Run Golf Course, 2036 Rochester Road, Royal Oak; free.

Stony Creek Metropark Fireworks: 10 p.m. Friday, June 26, 4300 Main Park Drive, Shelby Township; $7 per vehicle, $10 after 5 p.m., free with annual permit.

Lake Erie Metropark Fireworks: 10 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 32481 W. Jefferson Ave., Brownstown; $7 per vehicle, $10 after 10 p.m., free with annual permit. There’s live music from 6-9:30 p.m., the wave pool and other park attractions will be open, and food items and novelty glow products will be available until it’s time for the fireworks.

Lake Orion Jubilee Fireworks: 10 p.m. Saturday, June 27 (rain date, Sunday June 28), Green’s Prk, off M-24, south of Flint Street, Lake Orion; free. The June 25-28 celebration features midway rides and games as well.

Van Buren Township Fireworks: 10 p.m. Saturday, June 27, Beck Road baseball fields between Tyler Road and I-94 North service drive, Van Buren Township; free. Besides the fireworks, music from a DJ, food and drink vendor and glow products.

Taylor Summer Festival: 10 p.m. Saturday, June 27, Heritage Park near the Sheridan Community Center, 12111 Pardee Road, Taylor, free (additional fees for rides and entertainment). The June 25-28 festival includes carnival rides, the Heritage Park Petting Farm, live entertainment and other activities.

Stars and Stripes Festival: 10:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28, Freedom Hill County Park, 15000 Metropolitan Parkway, Sterling Heights, free, plus $25 carnival ride wristband. The fireworks display caps off four days of fun at the June 25-28 festival.

Madison Heights Festival in the Park: dusk, Sunday, June 28, Civic Center Park, 360 W. 13 Mile Road, Madison Heights; free (fees for some events and activities). The festival starts at 7 p.m. and includes music, games and fun activities for kids, including face painting and inflatables.

Lake St. Clair Metropark Fireworks: 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 31300 Metropolitan Parkway, Harrison Township; $7/vehicle entry fee, $10/vehicle entry fee after 5 p.m. The fireworks display offers stunning views from a boat, or on Center Beach. The Happy American Band performs before the show.

22nd Annual Salute to America: 9:45 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, July 1-4, Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford, 20900 Oakwood Blvd., Dearborn; advance tickets for non-members, $25 for ages 13 and older, $15.50 for ages 5-12 $6 parking; for members, $21.25 for ages 13 and older, $13.25 for ages 5-12, parking free; costs increase $4 for members and non-members at the door. This four-day celebration includes games and activities for the kids, holiday food from The Henry Ford’s award-winning culinary staff and music by Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the U.S. Army Field Band, Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus. The grand finale features the DSO playing Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, featuring authentic cannon fire and a spectacular fireworks display accompanied by live patriotic music.

Hudson Mills Metropark Fireworks: dusk, Wednesday, July 1, 8801 N. Territorial Road, Dexter; $10 special event daily permit after 5 p.m.; free admission with annual permit.

Romulus Community Fireworks: dusk, Thursday, July 2 (rain date Friday, July 3), field behind Romulus Middle School and Wick Elementary School at Wick and Ozga roads, romulus; free. This colorful display is presented by the Romulus Rotary Club and includes vendors selling food and glow products.

Grosse Pointe Farms Regatta and Fireworks: dusk Saturday, July 4, Pier Park, 350 Lake Shore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms; free. The regatta, sponsored by the Grosse Pointe Farms Boat Club, takes place July 3-5. The celebration also includes live music, boat races, and plenty of fun activities for the entire family to enjoy. A free concert from 7 until 9:45 p.m. on Saturday is capped by the fireworks display.

Birmingham/Beverly Hills Fireworks: dusk, Friday, July 3, Lincoln Hills Golf Course, 2666 W. 14 Mile, Beverly Hills; free.

Hazel Park Raceway Fireworks: 10:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, 1650 E. 10 Mile Road, Hazel Park; free admission and parking; free. Arrive early – say 6 or 7 p.m. – to beat the crowds, enjoy thoroughbred racing, living music and dinner. It’s all free, except for the food.

Manchester Fireworks Display: dusk (typically, 10:15 p.m.), Friday, July 3, Carr Park, 600 W. Main St., Machester, free. The Manchester Men’s Club sponsors this annual display.

Sylvan Lake Fireworks: 10 p.m., Friday, July 3, over Sylvan Lake at the Oakland County Boat Club, 2330 Ferndale St., Sylvan Lake; free admission, parking $15 in advance or $20 the day of the fireworks. The Oakland County Boat Club sponsors this fireworks display.

Whitmore Lake Fireworks: dusk Friday, July 3, viewing across from the post office, 9725 Main St., Whitmore Lake; free.

Oakland County Fair: 10 p.m. Friday, July 3, Springfield Oaks County Park, 12451 Andersonville Road, Davisburg; $10 for parking and entry, $5 admission if you walk to the fairgrounds. The fireworks display commemorates the opening day of the fair, which runs July 3-12.

Plymouth Township Fireworks: 10:15 p.m. Friday, July 3, Township Park, 46640 Ann Arbor Trail, Plymouth; free.

Wolverine Lake Tiki Night and Fireworks: dusk Friday, July 3, Wolverine Lake in Commerce Township; free. This fantastic display includes traditional fireworks as well a a variety of tiki candles on the shore.

Clawson Fourth of July Celebration: dusk Saturday, July 4, Clawson City Park, 935 N. Custer Ave., Clawson; $2 per person for park entry.

Groveland Oaks Park Fireworks: 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4, Groveland Oaks Park, 14555 Dixie Highway, Holly; $10/vehicle after 5 p.m.

Huntington Woods Fireworks: 10:05 p.m. Saturday, July 4 (rain date is Sunday, July 5), Rackham Golf Course, 10100 W. 10 Mile Road, Huntington Woods; free. Residents are encouraged to bike to this event, but there’s parking available too. Be sure to arrive early.

Independence Fest: 10 p.m. Saturday, July 4, Clintonwood Park, 6000 Clarkston Road, Clarkston; $10/car after 6 p.m.; $2/shuttle from Clarkston High School, 6093 Flemings lake Road. The celebration starts with a 10 a.m parade starting at St. Daniel Catholic Church, and includes carnival rides, food, craft vendors music, activities for kids and a celebration of veterans.

Lake Orion Fourth of July Fireworks: dusk Saturday, July 4 (rain date is Sunday, July 5), Green’s Prk, 100 S Park Blvd., Lake Orion; free. Enjoy this giant fireworks display wherever you’re at around the lake. Expect some spectacular displays, including eight-inch rounds that will go 200 feet higher and 150 feet wider than in previous years.

Trenton Independence Day Fireworks: dusk Saturday, July 4, Riverside Drive between Harrison and Atwood avenues, or along the riverfront, Trenton; free. This display is one of the biggest of its kind in Michigan and is preceded by a live concert from 8-10 p.m.

White Lake Fireworks: dusk, Saturday, July 4 (rain date is Sunday, July 5), south end of White Lake in Highland Township; free. This spectacular two-barge display is sponsored by the White Lake Citizens League.
