Pianist Louis Nagel to headline fundraising concert for The Phoenix Ensemble

Fundraising concert to support PhoenixPhest, an inclusive Chamber Music & Jazz education program in Ann Arbor

The Phoenix Ensemble will host its fifth annual Marathon Concert at Kerrytown Concert House, Sat–Sun, November 26–27. The concert is to raise awareness and funds to support the PhoenixPhest chamber music and jazz festivals. Pianist Louis Nagel will perform a concert of Bach, Beethoven & Brahms as our headliner on Sunday at 4pm. Additional performers will include past PhoenixPhest participants, local teachers’ studios, and other area musicians. Please visit phoenixensemble.com to reserve tickets or make a tax deductible donation.
For the past 16 years, our music education programs have brought together a world-class faculty and an environment of cooperation, free expression, and empathy. Our festivals are open to all musicians regardless of age or playing ability. We feel that empathy and creative collaboration across a diverse group of people is critical to a peaceful, stable community. Since chamber and jazz musicians play in small groups, one to a part with no conductor, each person’s part is unique and indispensable to the whole. Each player brings their own background and interpretation to the music as well. As a result, every group member must learn to listen, understand, and appreciate what others have to offer, and work together to achieve excellence.
Our music camps serve over 300 participants each year, ranging from ages 3 through 70+, and coming from all over North America. More than double that number come to hear our concerts, which are open to the public.
The Phoenix Ensemble is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported in part by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, Eastern Michigan University, Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, and ACMP–The Chamber Music Network.
