That same day, Michigan became the first state to close its public schools due to the pandemic, and by March 23, all but two states had followed suit.
Teaching has not only become a difficult task but a different way to teach. Teaching online intensified the difficult task of classroom behavior management and made it a challenge to reach students with hands-on learning activities.
According to the most current data from Burbio's School Opening Tracker 64 %of elementary and middle school students are seeing some in person instruction and 26.5% will be attending schools that offer a hybrid schedule of 2-3 in-person days per week.

What makes a city a great place to live and teach? They looked at a variety of factors including salaries vs. cost of living, public school grades and funding level. When weighing the factors they came up with 25 cities that would make excellent homes for working teachers

Below are the top ten rankings, along with the median elementary teacher salary and cost-of-living index for each city. An index of 100 indicates the national average, so the lower the number, the lower the cost of living in that city.
