Dan Wecker Named Farmington Hills Firefighter of the Year
Farmington Hills Fire Department Names Lieutenant Dan Wecker Firefighter of the Year.

Lieutenant Dan Wecker has been named the 2017 City of Farmington Hills Firefighter of the Year, the department announced Tuesday. Wecker received his award at the City’s annual Employee Awards Ceremony held at the Costick Center on Jan. 22. Wecker began serving as a Farmington Hills firefighter in 2001. He was promoted to sergeant in 2009, and to lieutenant in 2016.
Wecker also serves as the primary instructor for the Fire Department’s EMT and Firefighter 1 and 2 programs. He teaches CPR, AED, and first aid classes for community groups and in area high schools. Wecker is also active in Farmington Hills’ fire prevention elementary school assembly program.
In addition to this honor, Wecker’s other citations include American Legion Firefighter of the Year (2009 and 2012), Optimist Firefighter of the Year (2008 and 2012), eight Chain of Survival awards, ten lifesaving awards, two meritorious service awards, two Oakland County Star of Life awards and six Certificates of appreciation.

“Lieutenant Wecker is highly involved in numerous different areas of the Fire Department,” said Fire Chief Jon Unruh in a statement. “In addition, he positively impacts the community almost daily through instruction and responding to fire and EMS incidents.”
