'Drive Like Your Kids Live Here': Farmington Woman Urges Drivers To Slow Down
Farmington Road's speed limit is 25 mph, but Jeannette LeMense says drivers aren't respecting it.
Jeannette LeMense is fed up with drivers speeding in Farmington. She is using a powerful message to get her point across – a red and white sign warning motorists to “Drive Like Your Kids Live Here.”
Along with many other Farmington residents, LeMense has copied neighborhoods in Livonia by placing the placard in front of her home, the Observer & Eccentric reports.
“I’d like to hope it results in people driving more carefully,” LeMense said. “Maybe people will read it and just slow down a bit.”

LeMense, who lives on Farmington Road, says that cars zoom down the road at speeds of 40-45 mph, especially at night. The speed limit is 25 mph.
A Farmington resident for more than a decade, LeMense raised her two sons, who are 16 and 19, to play in the backyard as opposed to the front as a precautionary measure.

Although she can’t tell if the signs are making a significant difference in motorists’ driving habits, she has been getting inquiries about the signs.
The signs are available at online for $9.99 along with other items with the same message.
LeMense hopes that these signs are posted everywhere. “Heck yeah, it would be wonderful,” she said.
