Farmington Hills Center for Active Adults Announces June programs
Dozens of programs are available for area adults age 50 and better.

From the City of Farmington Hills: The City of Farmington Hills offers dozens of programs for area adults age 50 and better at the Center for Active Adults, located in the Costick Center on 11 Mile Road between Middlebelt and Inkster. The Center is open Monday - Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Lunch is served daily, $2.75 for ages 60 and better, $5 for under 60.
- First Friday Ballroom. Friday, June 2, 3 – 6 p.m. Enjoy ballroom dancing featuring the Mike Wolverton Band and also a buffet dinner. All levels of experience, singles and couples welcome. $10 by June 1, $12 after.
- Shredding for Safety. Tuesday, June 6, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Protect your identity, de-clutter, and recycle! Farmington and Farmington Hills residents 50 & better can bring up to four paper grocery bags of sensitive documents to be shredded. No junk mail or trash, please! Enter Gate 3, remain in your car, and exit Gate 4. No fee.
- Dine and Discover - The Wright Brothers, Boeing & Douglas. Wednesday, June 7, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Learn about the contributions of these aviation pioneers, and hear their stories of bravery, dedication, and innovation. Enjoy a delicious treat while you learn! Fee is $8. Must register in advance.
- Successful Aging: Minimizing Vulnerability in Health and Wealth. Thursday, June 8, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Dr. Peter Lichtenberg, from Wayne State University, will discuss how to maintain a positive attitude and become adaptable to changes in body, mind, and circumstances to minimize vulnerability with health and money. No fee.
- Friday’s Film. Friday, June 16, 12 – 3 p.m. After a delicious lunch, enjoy the movie “La La Land” with candy, popcorn, and a drink. Fee is $5 in advance, $7 at the door.
- Hello Summer! Outdoor Fair. Thursday, June 29, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Welcome summer at the Outdoor Fair with games for all ages, lunch, entertainment, and an Old Fashioned Pie Throwing Contest! Tickets are $8 by June 23, $10 after and at the door.
Several support groups are also available including Caregivers, Grief and Loss, First Step Stroke, and Vision Impaired. The Center also offers many clubs that meet regularly including Computer Forum, CFAA (Cycling for Active Adults), Heritage Hikers, and the Red Hat Society.
