Farmington Restaurateur Dies After Asthma Attack

Kim DeCapite was co-owner of Peterlin's Restaurant.

A Farmington restaurateur died suddenly Saturday, Oct. 3, after suffering an asthma attack a week earlier.

Kim DeCapite,49, was co-owner of Farmington’s Peterlin’s Restaurant, a local landmark, according to an obituary on the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home website.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Road, Farmington. Her body will lie in state beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, located at 23720 Farmington Road. A prayer vigil is planned for 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Ms. DeCapite was born in Pontiac on Sept. 4, 1966.

Survivors include her life partner of seven years, Zach Peterline; her children, Travis (Samantha) and Maria; her mother, Joyce Eagle-Murray; a granddaughter, Cali Rose; her mother, Joyce (Sarah) Stevenson; her brother-in-law, Aaron (Sheena) Peterlin; a niece, Anne Peterlin; two aunts, Debbie McCraney and Jeannie Eagle; and a cousin, Richard Eagle.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association of to a fund to benefit her grandchildren, payable to Travis DeCapite.

Peterlin’s Restaurant will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 8, during regular business hours.
