Farmington Teen Held For Trial In Mother’s Death

Farmington Teen Held For Trial In Mother's Death accused by prosecutors of killing mother, throwing lifeless body out a window

Muhammad Altantawi, 16, was bound over for trial Dec 8, accused of suffocating and bludgeoning his mother before throwing her lifeless body out a second story window in the family’s Farmington Hills mansion Aug 21. Although the death was presented as an accident, after conducting a post-mortem, the Oakland County Medical examiner's office found that Nada Huranieh, 35, died after being suffocated and struck on the head, before the fall occurred.

Judge Marla Parker of Farmington 47th District ruled Friday, finding probable cause to bind Altantawi over to Oakland Circuit Court where he will stand trial on a murder charge. Denied bail in the case, Altantawi will await trail at Oakland County Children’s Village, though prosecutors are charging him as an adult.

While Altantawi's attorneys do not contest the manner of his mother’s death, the contend that there are other viable suspects and that the investigation was too narrowly focused. Huranieh’s body was discovered by another child in the home, a 14-year-old girl.
