Fatal Fire Reveals Large Number Of Marijuana Plants

Fire Marshall Says Home Had No Working Smoke Detectors

Farmington Hills police and firefighters responded to a fire Monday morning, finding one man dead and what looked like a large quantity of marijuana growing, according to the Detroit News. The Jan. 6 blaze occurred in the 35300 block of Spring Hill around 10 a.m.

Fire Marshal Jason Olszewski told the News that the fire burned on the home’s first level and that they found a man they believe to be a victim of the fire while conducting a search of the house.

"There are currently two investigations. One with the Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire and the death, and then another investigation with police to determine if the marijuana is legal or not," Olszewski told the News. He added that the home didn’t have any working smoke alarms.
