Film Festival Brings Oscar Nominees To Farmington

The Fifth annual Greater Farmington Film Festival includes documentaries and Academy Award nominees.

The Greater Farmington Film Festival kicks off Thursday with a screening of the documentary Citizen Jane at 7:30 p.m. at the Smith Theatre at Oakland Community College. Other venues hosting screenings for the annual event include the Farmington Civic Theater, and the Holocaust Memorial Center. Friday, the Oscar-nominated animated film, The Breadwinner, will screen at the Civic Theater. There will also be a free screening of short animated films from the New York International Children’s Film Festival Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

This is the fifth year for the film festival, and sponsors include the City of Farmington Hills, KickstART Farmington, Gage Cenage Learning, City Life Realty and The Cheese Lady. A wristband good for all screenings in the festival is $30. Individual movies range from free of charge to $6.
