Former Farmington Hills Resident Dies In Colorado Accident

University Of Michigan Grad Lost In Deadly Climbing Season

Andrew Biebuyck, 27, a Virginia geologist who and University of Michigan grad who began his career in Farmington Hills, died Saturday in a rock climbing accident in Colorado. Biebuyck fell 60 feet while climbing a structure known as “The Piggy Bank” in the Banks Hiking Area in Canon City, about 115 miles southwest of Denver. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and other search-and-rescue agencies tried to revive Biebuyck, but he died of his injuries at the scene.

According to Westword, 2017 has been one of the deadliest climbing seasons in Colorado history.
