Whether you are looking to invest in your nest or get your home ready for spring selling season, now is the time plan those projects and get ready for summer living. Learn how to clean up and green up your space with improvements chosen to showcase cutting edge technologies. Did you know 57% of Americans say that having smart products in their house saves them about 30 minutes per day, that’s 182.5 hours a year, or roughly a week and a half?

“One of the quickest ways to update your home is by painting,” said Kraeulter, “It is really fast, really easy and the technology in paint is amazing. There is a new product out from Valspar called Valspar Signature paint + primer. It covers any wall without the need of a primer coat and saves you a lot of time, and its formulated with high-hiding stain resistant technology. You can basically paint over any wall colors or wash those inevitable stains that are going to from right off and available at Lowes.”

Another way to update your interior is by updating your blinds and that is a job you can do today without ever leaving your house. There is a company called Select Blinds and the way Select Blinds work is you essentially will order this online. There is 15 different samples you can get so you can see the quality of the materials, the color against your furniture and when you got just the right combination then you can order online and it is delivered to your doorstep and once it gets there it’s an easy DIY project to install.

For your yard you can do it all with cordless tools like for example the lawnmower from Greenworks I have been working with. It is a 21” lawnmower and what’s cool about it is it is capable of holding two batteries. So when one wears out the other one kicks in and you can run it for about 80 minutes without having to stop and that’s plenty to do just about any average size lawn. It also has some capabilities like smart cut technology; when it goes into thick grass it gives you more power and less power when you’re on thinner grass and it actually preserves the battery power. I love the fact you can fold it up and stand it upright so it takes a lot less space than a typical mower.

Another way to update your interior is to update your floors. If you have a basement or concrete slab room those concrete slabs can hold a lot of moisture and they could be damp and uncomfortable. DriCore subfloor is the solution. DriCore subfloor panels go directly on top of the concrete floor and helps you vent that moisture because they actually standup a bit off the concrete floor and they allow the moisture to evaporate from under the panel that prevents moisture, mold and mildew from forming. Then you put your finish floor right on top and when you’re done you have a warm, dry and comfortable space.

Technology can absolutely increase the value of your home. One of the things you should be thinking about today is making sure you updated all of your safety features in your house. Your smoke alarms, carbon dioxide alarms and make sure you have a fire extinguisher. Now that we are spending so much time at home unattended cooking is the number one cause of fires in this country.

So you really want to make sure you have a fire extinguisher there.

First Alert has a home fire extinguisher now that is very well made, It is totally rechargeable and is a multi-rated fire extinguisher so it could handle just about any type of fire; wood, paper, fabric, flammable liquids like cooking oil for example and electrical fires. You should have one on every level of your home as well as in the kitchen, laundry room and garage.

Right now since we’re spending a lot of time at home it’s a good idea to just take advantage of the smart home technology that is available. Most of the products can be purchased online, but you can control thermostats lights. You can control your air conditioning when it gets warmer all through smart devices so don’t be afraid to dive in.
