Gerak Named Officer Of The Year By Farmington Hills Police

Late last week, Farmington Hills Police announced they'd named Detective Robert Gerak 2017 Officer of the Year.

The Farmington Hills Police Department named Detective Robert Gerak was 2017 City of Farmington Hills Police Officer of the Year. Gerak, who was presented the award during Farmington Hills’ annual employee awards ceremony at the Costick Center Jan. 22, received one merit citation and four unit citations in 2017, for cases in which he identified a suspect in a sexual assault and located a serial bank robber, among others, according to the Farmington Hills Police Department.

Gerak has served with the Farmington Hills Police Department since 2006, beginning his career in law enforcement with the Detroit Police Department, rising as high as sergeant. Gerak is a member of the Farmington Hills Police Honor Guard and his current assignment is with the department’s investigative division.

As a Farmington Hills police officer, Gerak has has also one a valor citation, nineteen unit citations and was named 2008 American Legion Police Officer of the Year. “Detective Gerak is a highly decorated officer with many years of police experience who is an asset to the Department and the community,” said Police Chief Chuck Nebus.
