Get Your Car Ready for the Colder Seasons

Basic Maintenance Can Keep your Car Running with Racing Precision

The seasons are about to change, and October is fall car care month. The car care council recommends you prepare your vehicle for colder temperatures.

“We just went through construction season known as summer,” Lauren Fix, The Car Coach®. “There was a lot of wear and tear from the high temperatures; we had rain, potholes and all that. Now is a great time to go wow is my vehicle running right? Nine out ten cars running on the road have something wrong with them that is why the Car Care Council really wants you to be prepared for the colder temperatures.“

“Potholes not only do damage to the car but other components in the car and we may not notice that but what you will notice in ways that your fuel economy is off may be your performance isn’t so great when the light turns green”, said Fix. “That is why it is really important to look at things like spark plugs. If you don’t want to replace them yourself and you want to have a technician do it for you, you can buy them or ask them for the Autolite iridium xp spark plugs. You’ll get improved performance, enhanced fuel efficiency and an industry-leading limited lifetime warranty.”

“The first thing you want to do is your oil change, “said Fix.” If you don’t know when to change it it’s not the old 3,000 miles it’s either 5,000 or 7,500, your owner’s manual schedule will tell you what to put in and when. I highly recommend full synthetic oil. What you don’t realize even on a newer care you get a buildup of sledge. How you get rid of that is where the Hot Shot’s Secret 2-Step Oil Treatment. It works on diesel and gas engines and it removes this build up and restores lost power giving you a better performing engine.”

“One of the most important things people forget is tires,” said Fix. “Check your tire pressures once a month against the number inside your driver’s door. If you need new tires, look for a premium brand such as Kumho Tire. Kumho makes a premium brand with some innovative tire technology and give s you the confidence for the road. Kumho Tire has launched a new tire, the performance oriented ECSTA PA51. Kumho Tire emphasized all-season performance with the use of full depth 3-D sipes, a zig-zag circumferential groove, and an optimized tire compound so that whether it is sunny, raining, or lightly snowing you will confident on the road with your Kumho Tires.”

There is one thing most us are most likely forgetting; allergies. “Believe it or not the CDC says that over 50 million people have allergies and fall is when allergies flair up,” adds Fix. “That’s why I recommend the Bosch HEPA Premium Cabin Air Filters to provide the cleanest air possible inside the vehicle so passengers can breathe easier while they are traveling this fall. The Bosch HEPA Premium Cabin Air Filters is 99.97% efficient, trapping more pollen, mold, dust and other allergens and irritants that would otherwise enter your vehicle and be circulated through the air.”
