iLabs Researchers Give Farmington Hills Five-Star Award
The city is among 51 local governments recognized by the University of Michigan-Dearborn's Center for Innovation Research.

A focus on economic development and entrepreneurial growth has earned the City of Farmington Hills Five Star status in the annual eCities study conducted by researchers at iLabs, University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Center for Innovation Research.Â
Farmington Hills, along with 50 other cities and townships recognized as Five-Star Communities, spend a combined $2.2 million annually on economic development. The communities represent 15 percent of Michigan’s population with a professional degree and 92 percent of them share services related to economic development with another municipality.
“This latest recognition underscores the importance that our City places on economic development and fostering an environment where new businesses want to grow and established businesses want to stay," Mayor Barry Brickner said.Â
