Local Woman Combines Her Love for Country Décor and Storytelling

Twinkle Lights & Cornbread is a Farmington Hills and online-based décor, events and design company with a southern, and storytelling, twist!

A Fairytale Beginning

Liz Kasha, founder of Twinkle Lights and Cornbread, has always had a passion for farmhouse and country inspired décor, as well as a deep love for creative writing.

One day, while vacationing in Nashville, she came across a t-shirt in a souvenir window that said "Country as Cornbread" and the southern saying stuck with her.

The t-shirt in the souvenir shop

The idea of launching her own décor and events company had always vividly danced around in her mind, but somehow, the timing was never quite right, until one magical moment.

When she returned home, she was hanging a string of twinkling Edison lights on her back porch when suddenly, and perhaps with a little help from a farmhouse fairy Godmother (hey, they could exist) it came to her. What better way to describe her love for all things whimsical, twinkly and topped with a southern twist than "Twinkle Lights and Cornbread."

The next day, she purchased the domain name and set up her Instagram page and website.

Sharing Her Fairytale Designs

Twinkle Lights and Cornbread creates original designs and décor and gives fans of the farmhouse genre the ability to recreate each one of them in their own home.

Each of her designs embodies an enchanting, rustic wonderland theme and is accompanied with a fairytale story that creatively personifies each piece she uses. It's as if she brings to life each of her designs by taking fans on a magical, storytelling journey through her whimsical words.

Her most recent design below, titled "Love is Patient. Love is Kind," combines traditional elements of the farmhouse genre like rustic wood benches, lambs ear wreaths, weathered lanterns, and framed farmhouse wall art, while adding her own charming twist.

She personified the above design with these captivating words...

"The swaying pastel flowers create a frameless scene waiting to capture the moment summer love drifts in on a gentle evening wind. It comes as magical as any flute, as improvised as deep south jazz, and as soulful as a sunset kiss. In a fleeting moment, the sun bids its farewell and the sky is lit up with twinkling stars scattered like space dust. As the wind quiets down, the bronzed bell chimes play their last tune and humbly take a bow. In that moment, love patiently waits in the wings, for the perfect moment to make its enchanting entrance."

Her Whimsical "Why"

If you ask Liz her reason behind fusing her two passions of décor and writing, her answer is quite simple.

"Country style is a commitment to a simpler way of life, an appreciation for the small things, their character and the story behind them. A bench, can just be a bench. Flowers, can just be flowers. Bells, can just be bells. But when you take all of those elements and turn them into captivating characters with their own story to tell, you are able to draw people in and make them feel like they are part of your scene and story, as if they are sitting right on that bench, looking up at the swaying flowers and the sparkling night sky, while watching the bells take their final bow. I want people to connect with my designs on a deeper level, and perhaps for a brief, but enchanting, moment in time, feel as if they are standing in the middle of their very own farmhouse fairytale."

Keep Up with Twinkle Lights & Cornbread

A few of her designs have caught the attention of Kirkland's, a national home décor retailer, and they shared her décor scenes on their website and social media pages. Many of her designs have also been featured in articles and on farmhouse inspiration pages and websites.
