Masons Give Riley Park Ice Rink in Farmington a Big Boost
The $1,000 donation will help cover the costs of installing the rink, which is expected to open in December.

The Farmington Masonic Lodge presented Farmington city council members with a $1,000 check Monday, to help fund the Riley Park Ice Rink scheduled to open next month in downtown Farmington.Â
"We're working towards reintegrating our old town hall back into Farmington," Mason Hal Groat said. "It has been for years known as the Masonic Hall. We'd like it to be known as the Old Town Hall."Â
The building in the northwest corner of Farmington Road and Grand River served as Farmington's Town Hall until 1964, when the Masons purchased it. Â
Groat told officials that the Masons are encouraging more use of the building. Events held there in recent months have included a City of Farmington visioning meeting, a presentation by Motor City Ghost Hunters and a Harry Potter party. An Old Town Hall-iday Market is planned Dec. 7, during downtown Farmington's Holly Days.Â
