BISSELL Pet Foundation Moves 274 Pets from Areas of Hurricane Laura's Impact

September 9, 2020 — When Category 4 Hurricane Laura had its sights set on Texas and Louisiana, BISSELL Pet Foundation (BPF) immediately began coordinating placement for the homeless animals in its path. So far, 274 pets have safely settled in at 20 different animal shelters across the country, and now they’re looking for forever homes.
On September 10-17, BPF will sponsor reduced adoption fees during its emergency Empty the Shelters (ETS) adoption event taking place at the following locations:

“We are grateful to our 20 shelter partners who were so willing to step up and save lives by opening their facilities to 274 pets in need,” said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Now that these animals are safe and out of harm’s way, many organizations are feeling overcrowded and in need of help finding loving homes for the pets in their care.”
With fostering pets becoming so prevalent during COVID-19, BPF will also honor foster-to-adopt cases that start as fosters during the week of September 10-17 and are finalized up to one week after the event.
All animals included in the Empty the Shelters promotion will be microchipped and spayed/neutered to prevent further pet homelessness.
