Skateboard Veteran Tony Hawk Coming to Farmington Hills to Perform

A caravan of skateboarders stop at Riley Park on Aug. 29 as part of the Birdhouse Summer Tour.

Celebrity skateboarder Tony Hawk will perform a free demonstration in Riley Park on Saturday, Aug. 23 as a part of the Birdhouse Summer Tour.

The event, hosted by the City of Farmington HIlls Special Services Department, invites skateboard enthusiasts to come and watch a legend of the skateboard world perform, the Observer & Eccentric reports.

The Birdhouse Summer Tour features other skateboarders including Aaron “Jaws” Homoki, Ben Raybourn, Clint Walker, David Loy, Kevin Staab, Willy Santos, Clive Dixon, Mike Davis, Shawn Hale and Shaun Gregoire.

Riley Park, a skate park covered in 29,000 square feet of concrete, is just one of eight stops on the Midwestern tour.

Skateboard paraphernalia will be sold during the event, including skateboard decks and T-shirts.

Another upcoming event taking place at Riley Park for skateboard enthusiasts is the 2014 Fall Classic Skateboarding Competition, which runs from Sept. 13-14 and is open to all skill levels. The event starts at 10 a.m. and admission is $5.
