Son Held In Farmington Hills Woman's Death

Farmington Hills Police is investigating a 35-year-old woman's death as a homicide.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — A 16-year-old Farmington Hills boy is being held in the death of his mother. While no charges have been filed, the case is being investigating “as a homicide,” according to a statement from Farmington Hills Police.

Nada Huranieh died Monday in her Howard Street home, the Detroit News reported. The 35-year-old Farmington Hills woman worked as a fitness trainer. Her son is currently being held at Children’s Village in Pontiac.

The Farmington Hills Police and Fire departments responded to the home at about 6:40 a.m. Monday after a 911 call was placed. The 911 caller told police that Huranieh had had an accident, Farmington Hills Police said. Paramedics worked on Huranieh, but were unable to save her.

An investigation followed and Farmington Hills police found evidence indicating that the death was not the result of an accident. Officers then took the boy into custody.

The Detroit News reported that Huranieh was separated from her husband and in the process of getting a divorce. She lived in the Howard Street home with her son and two daughters.
