Sustainable Must-Haves to Get on Your Radar This Summer
From shoes to beauty to artisan subscription boxes, these brands are all taking a step towards making a positive impact on the environment

There's about 300 million pairs of shoes that end up in a landfill every year, and Blowfish Malibu have launched a 4Earth shoe collection, a line of some of their most iconic styles with the uppers composed of recycled plastic bottles to do their part in decreasing their footprint on the environment. More specifically, the Play4Earth Sneaker, the Balla4Earth Wedge Sandal, and the Marley4Earth-K Sneaker (for kids), all super cute shoes with easy on/off wear. Additionally, Blowfish Malibu will donate $1 towards Oceana, the largest international advocacy organization dedicated to ocean conservation, for every 4Earth pair sold. Available at major retailers including Amazon, Famous Footwear, Zappos, and Shoe Carnival.

WIthin the beauty industry, there have been 76.8 billion units of plastic packaging in 2017 alone and a majority of those units end up in landfills and our oceans, a problem polluting the earth's terrestrial and marine ecosystems. To be a part of the solution, meejee created a new curved base for their facial cleansing massager made with recycled plastic. The ergonomic design also cuts down on plastic production and fits comfortably in your hand while you maneuver the to reach areas of your skin, and doesn't require wasteful replacement brush heads. Additionally, the brand has partnered with PlasticBank to help remove 4.4 pounds of plastic from entering Earth's oceans for every meejee purchased (nearly 100 plastic bottles for every meejee!).

Since day one GlobeIn has operated differently. With the nine Fair Trade principles at the heart of their operations, they have shown that sustainable supply chains are achievable if brands are willing to put the work in. Their carefully curated monthly subscription boxes are filled with ethical and sustainable items that have been handcrafted by artisans around the world. Artisans receive fair wages, investment and exposure to larger global markets, while consumers are able to find and support conscious and fair practices, and find useful items with deeper meaning. Their items cover homeware (everything from soft furnishings to kitchen essentials!), fashion, beauty and food and drink, making it increasingly easy to source a conscious alternative for everyday staples and gifts alike.
