Former City of Farmington Mayor Wilbur V. “Sandy” Brotherton, age 98, passed away January 15, 2021. He served as Mayor from 1965-1973.

Sandy’s political career not only included Mayor Pro Tem and Mayor of Farmington, he also served as Oakland County Commissioner and was the 64th District State Representative from 1975-1988. He was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows in Farmington, was a member of Groves-Walker American Legion Post #346 in Farmington and the Farmington VFW. He resided in Farmington’s Bel-Aire subdivision and is fondly missed by his neighbors there.

He was born July 6, 1922, in Chicago. While attending Northwestern University, he was drafted into the Army Air Corp and served his country during WW II as a navigator.
