Axle Brewing Pairs Peru And Polynesia With Kon Tiki Dinner
Ferndale's Axle Brewing Company banishes winter blues with a Kon Tiki dinner At Livernois Tap Feb. 24.
Ferndale’s Axle Brewing Company, who most recently blessed the area with Stable Genius, a beer as delicate and orange as the president who famously Tweeted about his own stability an IQ, will host a Kon Tiki dinner Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at Axle’s taproom, Livernois Tap, 567 Livernois, Ferndale. The Kon Tiki, a raft famously piloted across the Pacific in 1947 by anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl, inspired the menu, which will include all-you-can eat passed and stationed appetizers.
The all-night dinner event offers a menu inspired the two chefs’ roots. Originally from Hawaii, Chef Elliot Patti favors Polynesian flavors while Sous Chef Moses Fishman learned cooking in his home country of Peru. The menu will include katsu musubi, anticucho mushroom skewers, hot shrimp ceviche, ahi sashimi, Hawaiian pizza egg rolls, arroz con pato and picarones with honey.
Tickets are $45 and come with a choice of three of Axle's beers. For tickets, visit the event’s Pingg page.
