Saturdays at 9:00 a.m., at the Ferndale Catfe Lounge hosts "purrlates," a take on pilates that incorporates “friendly, adoptable cats…mingling, participating and playing with you as you do your poses,” according to the Catfe’s Eventbrite page. Purrlates costs $15.
Pilates itself consists of poses and exercises meant to develop strength and lean muscles while helping participants improve flexibility. Purrlates will focus on the core, legs and glutes, and the instructor describes the class as “multi-level class so newbies are welcome as well as advanced practitioners.”
Purrlates is led by an ACE Group Fitness certified instructor with a particular affinity for rescue felines. Purrlates takes place at the Catfe Lounge, which is home to a rotating group of adoptable Ferndale Cat Shelter cats. The Catfe is located at 821 Livernois St., Ferndale. To register, sign up via Eventbrite. Space is limited, so signing up early is encouraged.
