DriverOnTap offers responsible option to DUI, DWI
A new service in Michigan can make New Year's Eve a fun night for the entire party — no designated driver needed; no car left behind.
A new driver service that has been expanded to west and southeast Michigan will help those who want to responsibly celebrate the new year. DriverOnTap was founded in the Greater Lansing area where it has been operational for nearly two years.
Unlike a taxi service, DriverOnTap provides a driver to chauffeur the client in his/her own car. Vehicles are not left behind. So one can drive to the celebration or enjoy a night out at a restaurant, bar or friend’s house, and DriverOnTap will drive the client home in their own car. No designated driver needed.
DriverOnTap will pick up customers anywhere within 25-mile radiuses of Lansing/East Lansing, Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor, and within the counties of Oakland, Macomb and Wayne. Their destination can be out of the service area.

“We want people to celebrate and enjoy the holidays, but we also want them and others on the road to be safe,” said Jose Ramirez, DriverOnTap chairman. “If someone has consumed alcohol, DriverOnTap is a safe and convenient alternative to driving impaired.”
Reservations are made using the DriverOnTap app — for Apple and android devices — up to six hours in advance. The app can be downloaded at www.DriverOnTap.com.

Before a client confirms the reservation, they will know who their driver is, the time of pick up and the cost. Fares start at $35, and the company says prices are generally two to three times the fare of a cab ride home.
Drivers are professional, licensed and insured.
