Ferndale Appoints Jordan Smellie As New School Board Member After Karen Twomey's Resignation

Last week, the Ferndale Schools Board of Education appointed Jordan Smellie to fill a vacant board seat. Karen Twomey, formerly the the Board Secretary and a serving member since 2008, resigned her position in September.
In a statement, Ferndale School Board President Jennifer LaTosch welcomed Smellie, and lauded his history of volunteerism. “Jordan brings a diverse skillset to Ferndale Schools which includes time spent working as an educator and with varied non-profit organizations,” LaTosch said. “He also embodies the spirit of Ferndale Schools through his many volunteer roles in the community. We look forward to having him join with us and our administrative team as we work together to provide the best education possible to all of our students,” she added.
Smellie will serve through until the next school board election in November 2018.
