Ferndale Fire Department Offers Free Smoke Detectors To Residents In Need
Check out how you can get a free smoke detector from the Ferndale Fire Department.

FERNDALE, MI — How safe would you feel living in a home without smoke detectors? That's a frightening reality for many people in Ferndale who can't afford to buy smoke detectors.
Well, the Ferndale Fire Department is coming to the rescue - literally. The Ferndale Fire Department has kickstarted a new initiative to provide free smoke alarms to residents in need. The American Red Cross is sponsoring the generous program and has already donated the initial stock of 30 smoke alarms, according to a statement.
"Our goal is to reach seniors, disabled people, families, and those for whom buying smoke alarms would be cost prohibitive," Ferndale Fire Marshal Brian Batten said in a statement. Batten elaborated, "But we'll work with any citizen or family with the need."
