Ferndale Finds Help In Strengthening Families Program

A series of free seminars for parents of kids ages 10-14 comes with dinner, daycare and helpful advice.

The Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities will offer a 7-week program aimed at teaching parents to help kids resist peer pressure. This program is hosted by Southeast Oakland Coalition at Ferndale High School for the sessions, which take place Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. March 6 - April 24.

There’s a break April 3, with no session, due to Easter. Open to ten families, the sessions include dinner, childcare and transportation if needed. Sessions take place at Ferndale High, 881 Pinecrest Drive, Ferndale. For more information, contact Minou Carey Jones with the Michigan Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities - one of the event sponsors - at (248) 221-7101. You can also register online through the Michigan Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities website.
