Get The Blues This Weekend At Ferndale's Blues And Music Festival

The 16th Annual Ferndale Blues And Music Festival will feature over 60 concerts at dozens of local venues.

FERNDALE, MI — Do you have the blues? You will soon. The 16th Annual Ferndale Blues & Music Festival kicks off this weekend, running Friday, Jan. 27 - Saturday, Feb. 4, according to a press release.

The Ferndale Blues & Music Festival will feature over 60 concerts and music events at dozens of eclectic venues across Ferndale and Hazel Park including Howe’s Bayou, Sneakers, New Way Bar, Ferndale Elk’s Club, Soho, Treat Dreams Ice Cream Parlor, Orchid Nightclub, Dino’s, Cellarmen’s of Hazel Park, Ferndale High School, Como’s, Zeke’s Rock n Roll Barbeque, Otus Supply, J’s Penalty Box Jewish Ferndale, and M-Brew. The festival will feature tunes for all different music fans - ranging from blues to jazz to rock n roll to big band to salsa.

While most of the concerts are free, you do have the opportunity to throw some cash into a blue piggy bank, which supports local charities. In fact, the festival has donated over $20,000 in proceeds to local charities over the years and this year, 100% of proceeds will go towards Ferndale Youth Assistance.

Craig Covey is the former Mayor of Ferndale (2008-2010), and is the Festival Co-Chair and Co-Founder. Covey said in a statement, “People love music and they need it in the cold dark days of winter. It can get you out of the house to enjoy great food and drink, hang with your friends, and chill."
