Local author debuts third children's book that warms hearts

Family-friendly launch event at Ferndale's Honey Space includes book reading and signing, musical entertainment, fall fare and more.

Songwriter, writer and local businessman Andy Gutman announced today the release of his children’s book, Even. The 34-page story, written in a lyrical style amidst vibrant illustrations, offers a sweet lesson in the eternal love and strong bond between a father and his daughter. Even is available for $19.99 (hardcover) or $8.75 (paperback) online at Amazon.

A launch event for the book takes place Saturday, Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Honey Space (for Moms), located at 3136 Hilton Rd. in Ferndale, that is free and open to the public.

Even is the third children's book for Gutman and was inspired by his own relationship with his daughter, Riley. He also is the author of Charlie the Caterpillar and Pop Lullaby, and has written and produced numerous musical pieces, including song accompaniments to his children's books. A musical version of the lyrics in “Even” can be found on Soundcloud, created by Gutman’s Gutcheck Music.

“It’s not easy for parents to say goodbye to their children when they leave for work each day,” said Gutman. “Like me, the father in this story is no exception. Even when he and his daughter are apart, their thoughts are never far from each other. This pair knows the truth in their hearts: that their relationship is special.”

To introduce his book to the community at large and give parents an opportunity to spend quality time with their children, Gutman’s appearance at Honey Space features family-fun activities, including a reading of his new book, Even, and entertainment by a local musician, who will perform the companion songs from all three of Gutman’s books. Gutman also will sign copies of his books for attendees. There will be coloring activities and a photo booth for parents and their children to mark the special event. Fall-themed refreshments, such as cider and doughnuts, will be served.

“We’re excited to welcome Andy and all of our area families into our space for this special event,” said Brooke Miller, founder of Honey Space for Moms. “Honey Space was designed to help take better care of the people who make and raise people, which means it is certainly also a place for fathers and the entire family to gather for meaningful programming and engaging events like this.”
