Renowned Foodpreneur Amber Poupore to Helm Kitchen at GreenSpace
Move coincides with third anniversary event on Dec. 4
Renowned plant-based entrepreneur and educator Amber Poupore will soon head up the kitchen at Ferndale’s GreenSpace Café owned by cardiologist Joel Kahn M.D., his wife Karen and son Daniel. The move is effective Tuesday, Dec. 4, which is also the restaurant’s third anniversary celebration dinner.
Known for her passion for providing nourishing, delicious foods to the community, Poupore worked for more than a decade at Inn Season Café before launching Royal Oak’s Cacao Tree Café, the Clean Plate in Shelby Township and a catering business. She teaches food and nutrition classes for medical students, corporations and numerous community organizations and was a consultant to GreenSpace Café for its first 18 months.
The Clean Plate, which closed unexpectedly in September due to a lease issue, had amassed a large following as an oasis of tasty, healthy food in an area not known for such options.
“The closing of the Clean Plate and perhaps fate and divine intervention created this opportunity,” said Poupore. “Dr. Kahn’s mission to prevent heart disease plus my commitment to healthy, enriching plant-based foods means incredible possibilities for GreenSpace.”
In addition to favorites on GreenSpace Café’s recently expanded menu of salads, bowls, sandwiches, burgers, happy hour snacks and comfort foods, guests will soon be able to enjoy popular items from the Clean Plate’s menu as well as new dishes and daily specials inspired by Poupore’s years of industry experience. Abundant gluten-, soy-, sugar- and oil-free offerings are available daily.

Located at 215 W. Nine Mile in Ferndale, GreenSpace Café is open Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m.; Sunday brunch 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Happy hour food and drink specials are offered at the bar 5-7 p.m. Monday-Friday. All food and select wines are certified kosher.
