Grand Rapids School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Grand Rapids is August 28. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Grand Rapids Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 9/22: Ottawa Hills Football Homecoming (Houseman Field)
• 9/23: Union Football Homecoming (Houseman Field)

November

• 11/7: No School for Students (Professional Development)
• 11/22: No School (Conference Exchange Day)
• 11/23 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/22: Half Day for Students
• 12/25 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/15: No School (Conference Exchange Day)
• 1/24: Half Day for Students, Secondary Exams
• 1/25: Half Day for Students, Secondary Exams
• 1/26: Half Day for Students, Secondary Exams

February
