The most popular boy’s name in Michigan in 2020 was Oliver. Oliver, the female version of Olivia, may also come from Olivier, which is a Norman French version of the Germanic name Alfher or Aleifr.

As many as 42,119 boys were born in Michigan last year. Of them, 494, or 1.17%, were given the name Oliver.
The second and third most popular boy names in the state in 2020 were Noah and Liam, respectively. About 1.14% of boys born in the state, or 481 baby boys, were named Noah. About 1.11%, or 468 newborn boys, were named Liam.
The most popular girl’s name in Michigan in 2020 was Charlotte. The name is French in origin, often the feminine diminutive for Charles.
As many as 37,348 girls were born in Michigan last year. Of them, 455 baby girls, or 1.22%, were given the name Charlotte.
