Toys R Us: Liquidation Sales Begin At Michigan Stores
Bargain hunters will want to head out early as the retailer prepares to shutter these stores.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Going-out-of-business sales began Wednesday at Toys R Us stores across the nation, including six stores slated to close in Michigan. The closing of the toy stores is part of a reorganization plan approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Keith Phillips in Richmond, Virginia, on Tuesday.
The liquidation sales run through April 15, according to the plan.
Toys R Us stores in Muskegon, Traverse City, Lansing and Grand Rapids, as well as two locations in Ann Arbor will close, according to the retailer.

Last month, Toys R Us, based in Wayne, New Jersey, filed a motion to close up to 182 of its 880 stores to 182 of its 880 stores in America — about 20 percent. The retailer has since removed at least a dozen stores from the list.
"The reinvention of our brands requires that we make tough decisions about our priorities and focus," said Toys R Us chairman and CEO David Brandon said in a statement. "The actions we are taking are necessary to give us the best chance to emerge from our bankruptcy proceedings as a more viable and competitive company."
