Niche.com has released its list of the 2016 Best Public High Schools in America. Where do area schools rank?
The big surprise on the Niche.com’s ranking of the 2016 Best Public High Schools in America would be if the highly acclaimed International Academy in Bloomfield Township didn’t make the list both in Michigan and nationally.
Surprise — no surprises this year. The public, tuition-free high school choice again topped the Niche list in Michigan and was ranked 30th nationally. Niche ranks schools on:

- Sports and fitness
The school ranked 4.3 out of 5 possible points on the “grading scale,” with As in all but two categories. The International Academy got a B+ on resources and facilities, but nearly flunked in sports and fitness with a D-.
