Joseph Colaianne Named Huron-Clinton Metroparks Corporate Counsel

The Hartland native joins the parks system from the Oakland County Water Resources Commission.

Hartland trustee Joseph Colaianne is the new corporate counsel for the Huron-Clinton Metroparks. Colaianne took the position July 15 and will handle all legal matters for the parks system, as well as insurance and risk management issues.

Colaianne comes to the parks system from the Oakland County Water Resources Comission (OCWRC), where he managed a variety of legal issues for 12 years. In all, he had more than 23 years of experience as an attorney with an emphasis on local government and municipal law.

Prior to his position with the OCWRC, Colaianne was a senior assistant corporation counsel for Oakland County.

"Joe’s expertise in government and municipal law will benefit the parks and the public, as well," John P. McCulloch, Huron-Clinton Metroparks director, said in a release.

Colaianne said he is excited to start his work with the parks, "I’m honored to be selected to serve as legal counsel for the Huron-Clinton Metroparks.  I look forward to working with a great group of dedicated staff who are committed to providing excellent recreational services in southeast Michigan."
