McLaughlin Family Remembers Mother/Grandmother

Hartland Family Celebrates Life of 86 Year Old Mother/Grandmother Jeanette Bopp-McLaughlin.

(SIMON) BOPP-MCLAUGHLIN, JEANETTE H. a long time resident of Houghton Lake, MI passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Regency of Whitmore Lake, long term care facility on January 30, 2015.

Age 86, Jeanette was born in Detroit, MI on April 12, 1928 to Joseph and Sadie (Shaheen) Simon and was preceded in passing by her parents, brothers Abraham, John, and Samuel, her sister Rose, her son Steven, and her husband and one and only true love, Joseph McLaughlin.

She leaves to cherish in her memory: her loving sons and daughters, Roseanne McLaughlin, Kevin McLaughlin, Brian (Lori) McLaughlin, Dolores (William) Gonzalez, and Bruce (Michelle) Bopp; loving grandchildren Devin, Marlana, Emily, Trey, Madison, Nicole, Christa and Kaitlyn; great grandchildren Cheyenne and Audrey, and several nieces and nephews.

Jeanette met and married her true love, Joseph just after completing the 10th grade at Western High School. She was a very strong, independent woman who raised six children alone after the loss of Joseph to a tragic automobile accident in 1962.

A naturally gifted artist and musician, she often hand tinted black and white photos in the early days, and continued to draw and sketch for much of her life.

She enjoyed cooking, bowling, playing cards, and attending musical productions very much. She loved to play the piano and sing, and was a member of the Sweet Adelines female chorale group for several years.

Later in life she enjoyed the peaceful solitude of Houghton Lake and loved planting flowers and gardening.

Family will receive friends for a Memorial Visitation Wednesday, February 4th 2-8 pm at Stanley Turowski Funeral Home, 25509 West Warren, Dearborn Heights. A private family burial service will be held.
