Reggie Jackson Recieves $20,000 Matching Grant From NBPA Foundation and Announces Tickets for Second Annual Pistons & Plates

The event will take place September 22 at The Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit

Detroit Pistons’ guard, Reggie Jackson, received a $20,000 matching grant from the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Foundation to support his efforts to install more Literacy Lounges in the Detroit-area.

The NBPA Foundation highlights and accelerates the real and collaborative work that players do worldwide to build their communities and create meaningful change. They provide strategic funding and support while also communicating the players' endeavors to the world in order to accelerate and maximize the impact.

This grant will help Reggie Jackson’s DETermined to Assist Foundation install more Literacy Lounges that feature Reggie Jackson-themed wall decals, seating areas, and bookshelves stocked with 600 age-appropriate books. So far, two literacy lounges have been installed and more are expected.

“The Reggie Jackson Foundation provides me with the opportunity to connect with and give back to a city that has supported me and given me so much,” said Jackson. “These kids deserve a space where they feel comfortable and motivated to learn. Reading is a key part of receiving an education, and these literacy lounges provide them with opportunities to dream big and grow.”
