Drive In Movie Fundraier at Freedom Hills, October 8

Community Housing Network and Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan Team Up for a Drive-In Movie Fundraiser at Freedom Hill on October 8

Community Housing Network and Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan have joined forces to host their first Drive-In Movie Fundraiser at Freedom Hill on October 8 featuring Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Proceeds from the event will benefit each organization’s mission of providing, housing support and safe, adequately furnished housing for families across metro Detroit.

As the state of Michigan continues to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis, hundreds of families and individuals are faced with homelessness, or the need for housing support. Nonprofit organizations offering support have become a lifeline and are critical to keeping this most vulnerable population healthy.

“Support for those facing eviction and those in need of housing resources is more vital than ever as families continue to need to stay healthy and safe during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Marc Craig, Community Housing Network CEO. “As nonprofits, we are working together more than ever to ensure that no one is left without support. Furniture Bank is an amazing partner to our efforts, and we are thrilled to be offering a chance for the community to gather safely while supporting our work.”

COVID-19 has placed low-income individuals and families in peril, threatening both their income and home security. Families facing homelessness are often left without furniture or belongings reinforcing the need for partnerships like the one built by Community Housing Network and Furniture Bank. Proceeds generated from this event will serve these at-risk families, who are existing on the edge and face eviction and foreclosure now, and in the immediate future.

“The pandemic is forcing us to spend more time at home, just as its economic fallout is putting thousands of Metro Detroit families at risk of eviction. CHN is one of the Furniture Bank’s closest mission partners because they know a stable home is much more than a roof over your head. Working together, we make sure kids and families are sleeping in warm beds within homes they’re proud to call their own,” Robert Boyle, executive director, Furniture Bank of Southeastern Michigan.

The October 8th Drive-In Movie Night will feature the film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle at 7:30pm. Gates to Freedom Hill open at 6pm.
