Find Macomb's Cheapest Thanksgiving Gas Prices

You'll want to fuel up before heading out of town on Turkey Day

Gas prices matter, especially with Thanksgiving Day travels. Whether you're sticking close to home, or making a truly long haul, knowing where to find the cheapest gas locally will make things a little easier on the big day, especially if you hit the pumps now. While gas prices just outside Detroit are pushing $3 a gallon, fueling up closer to home before hitting the road gets you better deals areawide.

Gas prices in Michigan have dropped in the last year by an average of about 20 cents a gallon, according to Gas Buddy. While the interstates tend to have higher prices, especially during peak holiday drive time, you can save pennies - and quarters - a gallon by hitting the pumps close to home before setting out. If you want to make a late-night run and save time in the morning, the Sunoco on Hayes Road, the 7-Eleven on Gratiot and the Hall Rd Speedway are all open 24 hours.

Kroger Fuel Points users should definitely check out the grocery chain’s Macomb gas stations, whose prices are already some of the lowest in the area. If you spend big on last-minute holiday foods, that receipt can get you up to 30 cents off a gallon. For all the budget-minded, let's hope the price trend continues into December. Despite the good news about gas prices for Michigan motorists, some local prices, especially just outside Detroit, are going as high as $3.19 a gallon on Turkey Day Eve. Finding a deal before you hit the road can net you savings heading into the holiday weekend.
