Four Finalists Named for MCC President Post

Extensive search brings candidates from across nation. Decision expected Dec. 20.

(Originally posted Dec. 15, 2016) Four finalists have been named after a months-long search for the next president of Macomb Community College, The Fraser-Clinton Township Chronicle reported. A final decision is expected Dec. 20.

Current MCC President Jim Jacobs is stepping down June 30, 2017. He has been the college's president since 2008. When he announced his pending resignation, an 18-member presidential search advisory committee was named. It is made up of three members of the college’s board of trustees, five members from the community, two MCC students and eight college staff members.

The finalists are:

  • David Bejou, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business and Social Services at West Virginia State University.
  • Amy Lee Fugate, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs at Mott Community College in Flint.
  • Utpal K. Goswami, Ph.D., president of Metropolitan Community College, in Kansas City, Missouri.
  • James O. Sawyer, Ed.D., provost and senior vice president at Macomb Community College.
