M-59 Construction Project Starting This March And Ending Oct. 2018
The M-59 Construction Project will affect Sterling Heights, Utica and Clinton, Macomb and Shelby Townships.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Macomb County drivers, you're in for one heck of a ride. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced a two-year M-59 (Hall Rd.) project is kicking off in March and will primarily affect drivers in Sterling Heights, Utica, and Clinton, Macomb, and Shelby townships, according to a press release.
The $60 million endeavor will reconstruct 3.7 miles of M-59 to allow for "better traffic flow along Macomb County's Golden Corridor." Phase I of the project will run from March to Oct., and crews will work day and night from M-53 to west of Garfield Rd. During construction, MDOT reports that three lanes will be open in each direction between east of M-53 and Romeo Plank Road daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Important note - the M-59 bridge over M-53 will have two lanes open in each direction from March through mid-summer 2017.
Phase II is slated for the spring of 2018 through Oct. 2018, and construction will be in the area west of Garfield Rd. to Romeo Plank Rd.
