At Macomb Dinner, Pence Focuses on Supreme Court

Donald Trump's running mate tells a friendly crowd of 1,000 that it's a battle of ideologies.

(Originally published on Oct. 18, 2016) Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence focused his remarks in Michigan Monday evening on the future of the Supreme Court. “Literally the delicate balance of the Supreme Court is on the line,” Pence said.

He spoke to a sold-out gathering of the Macomb Lincoln Day dinner at Palazzo Grande Banquet & Event Center in Shelby Township, The Macomb Daily reported.

Pence told a friendly, partisan crowd the choice between Trump and Clinton is a “choice between two futures.”

He went on to say the Democrats are giving Americans something they do not want, WOOD-TV reported.

“The other party has actually nominated someone who literally personifies the failed status quo in Washington, D.C. It really is truly amazing,” he said.

Also attending the event, a fundraiser for the Macomb County Republican Party, were several local and statewide Republican officials, including Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, Attorney General Bill Schuette and Congresswoman Candice Miller, who is locked in a contentious battle with Democrat Anthony Marrocco for Macomb County Public Works Commissioner.
