MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MI — A retired Hamtramck police officer has been accused of shooting his son following an argument in May, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
Michael Szymanski, 56, of Macomb Township, was arraigned Wednesday in 41-1A District Court on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a felony, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said the shooting took place on May 24 following an argument between Szymanski and his 30-year-old son at a gathering. The argument became physical and ended with Szymanski's son being shot in the abdomen, police said. He was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injures, deputies said.
