Serra’s Market Offers New Approach to Party Store Business!
Healthy food options are now available at Serra's as a way to help the community have easy access to fruits and vegetables.

Serra’s Market has partnered with the Macomb Partners in Health to offer healthy food options as part of a new approach to improving health in the neighborhood they serve. Located at 6115 E. 10 Mile Rd. in Warren, Serra’s Market has begun offering fresh fruits and vegetables for sale as part of its efforts to encourage customers to choose healthier options. “I see some of my regular customers struggling with health challenges, and this is a way to help them.” says owner Ziad Dally. Access to healthy foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, can be challenging for individuals without access to reliable transportation and for those who live in areas without supermarkets or retailers that offer such items. Additionally, less than 20 percent of individuals in Macomb County report consuming the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables daily while more than 36 percent report being told they have high blood pressure and more than 31 percent report being told they are obese.
The Macomb Partners in Health is a partnership of organizations led by the Greater Detroit Area Health Council formed in 2015 to improve care management and reduce the rate of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and stroke in Center Line, Eastpointe, Roseville and Warren. With funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the Macomb Partners in Health began its Health Around the Corner initiative. As part of the work, the initiative seeks to address the issue of access to healthy foods in these cities to improve health.
